I have a west highland terrier who has just injured her leg.  I have been to the vets who said there is a bit of swelling.  I had x-rays taken and there has been no damage, she appears to have arthiritis but only being 5 years old I am a bit concerned.  The vet said that she would like her to see a specialist, who is quite a long way for us to travel.  Can anybody tell me how long my poor dog will be limping for and whether it is worth putting her through such trauma.

No, 'fraid we cannot tell you anything about your dog :-( .  We have not seen her and are not vets.  Your vet is generally the best person to advise you when there is anything wrong with your dog - he has seen the x-rays and knows why he wants to refer you.  If you have any questions then ring your vet and have a chat
