Hi all
My new pup (bullmastiff) is 10 weeks old, we have had her for 3days. I have just noticed that when she wee's there is a tiny ammount of blood. It looks a bit like jelly with a smear of blood through it.

Thanks debbie

Don't think you should be worried but I do think you should speak to the vet about it, the likelyhood is that she has a slight infection.

Thanks for the reply Jackie.
I cant get hold of my vet now untill monday, they shut at 2 on a sat.
My mum suggested giving her a little cranberry juice to drink as that what she drinks when she has a water infection. Do you think that that will be ok or will it give her an upset tummy?

Also Buffy (my older pup) is trying to clean Kizer (the bully) is that ok or will Buffy then get the infection aswell?

Thanks Debbie

PS. I am going to have a look through their insurance documents to see if they have a vet helpline so that at least i can talk to one before monday.

Debbie, do you not have a local vet whom offers a sunday surgery? What do you do in an emergency?

Debbie as admin has said your vets should have a number available to ring, but having said that I do not think for one moment the problem is urgent unless the pup is listless or restless, so don't worry Monday will do I think, but if you are at all worried call the vets number and listen for the emergence number to be given.

Hi
She is fine in all other ways, she is trying to wee more often but only has a small dribble and thats it. The small bit of blood has gone and there hasn't been anymore.

Apart from that she is normal.

Thanks again Debbie

Well I am not qualified to tell you what to do but if the pup was mine I think I would consider it could wait till Monday as long as the pup remains bouncy and is eating and drinking normally.

Thanks Jackie.

Thats what i have decided to do. I am keeping an eye on her tho for any changes, i have got the emergency number for my vet (it was on their answer mesage) incase of any changes.

Thanks for the replys and for reasuring me.

Sounds like you have it covered, good luck tomorrow sure it is only an infection but as I said I am not a vet and you will have to wait and see what they say.

Hi Jackie
We had Kizer at the vets yesturday, the vet has said that it is probably vaginitis (not sure of spelling) and that it is probably caused by a flap of skin that she has hanging over her vulva. The vet has said that hopefully as she gets older this will sort itself out but if not then she will need surgery to pin it back.

Appart from that she was given a full bill of health. She also said that if her temprament was good she and all stayed as it was now she would be perfect to breed from.

I said that if (and this is a big IF) we did breed her it wouldn't be for another 3 years and a lot can change in that time.

Fingers crossed that her bit of extra skin sorts itself out and that she won't have any futher probs.

Thanks for all the advice you gave and the reasurances.

Debbie
