me and two of my friends have just purchased chocolate labrador puppies. I have a male called Max but the other 2 are girls one called Abby and the other is called Coco. Her kennel club name is Chocolate dream. I like Buttons.

why not call the puppy a proper name why have to have a choc name after all the three colours of labs are normal you wouldnt call a black black sam somthing or a yellow sam yellow something
give the baby a lovely name for him not his colour take him home look at his temperamnet and choose a name then not for the colour it should not matter
you would call a doberman black and tan mist or a westie whiitey so ignore colour chose a name for the dog

I tend to agree. Years ago possibly 50% of black Labrador had a name which would now be considered totally unacceptable but to my knowledge yellows have never been named with the colour in mind. When I select my puppy from a litter somehow the name seems to come without thinking about it. It is something about the dog which brings the name to my mind.

I get so fed up with people calling labs choc this and twix that its not right a dog has a personality that should come first try looking beyond the colour

Know which name you mean John would be frowned upon now

Ours was named - so we were told - was because the father's pet name was Nero, mother was Inky!!!

No Margot. All of my Labs have been yellow so it was never approprate. I did know very many in the old days though and as a child never gave it a second thought. It was just a black Labrador name!
Best wishes, John

Whilst I totally agree on the not given 'chocolate' dogs 'chocolate' names, I suspect they will anyway, so I feel like getting into the spirit of things!

Oreo
(not sure where the american influence is coming from!)
