Well, he did it. During class he was being a little s**t. so I thought ok next time we will do it. I didn't know the assessment was after the class. He did!!!  He went into working mode and was perfect. I am sure he winked at me afterwards. Well done Bailey.

ah well done!!! Tally got hers a couple of weeks ago - so I know how stressful it all is :-)
are you starting silver now? we had our first class last week..part of it was that she had to walk past a sausage!!! (to learn the command leave) I think we have a way to go on that one...!

We will have to wait till September to do silver as the classes stop for the school summer hols. How on earth did you get Tally to walk past a sausage :).  Bailey is a 21 week old lab, Walking past food is not what he does :) :)   I have not been given the list of requirements for silver, would it be possible for you to post them on here so that we can start the training during his break? We are going to a gundog training w/end on 10th & 11th July and his 1st show will be 2nd week in August so no holidays for him. Poor soul. Tia will also be coming on the training w/end (also a 21week old lab) but she is so laid back that opening her eyes is a long drawn out task. Boy is she in for a rude awakening.

Congratulations, onwards and upwards.

For the Silver Award examiners will only accept dogs that have already been awarded a Bronze Award Certificate, that have proper means of identification and, whose handlers can show their means of cleaning up after their dog.

Play with the dog
The object is to demonstrate that the dog will play with its handler. Play adds an extra dimension to a dog's life and can be used to make training fun.
Road walk
The object is to test the ability of the dog to walk on lead under control.
Rejoin the handler
The object is for the dog to remain steady while the handler leaves but the dog will rejoin when instructed to do so.
Stay in one place
The object is that the dog will stay on the spot while the handler moves away for 2 minutes. The handler should remain in sight.
Vehicle control
The object is for the handler to get the dog in and out of a vehicle in a controlled manner. The dog should remain quiet, relaxed and under control during the exercise.
Come away from distractions
The object is for the handler to remain in control of their dog when there are distractions.
Controlled greeting
The object is to demonstrate that the dog will not jump up. Should this happen, the handler must be able to successfully instruct the dog to cease.
Food manners
The object is for the dog to have good manners when aware of peoples' food.
Examination of the dog
The object is to demonstrate that the dog will allow inspection of its body by a stranger as might be undertaken by a veterinary surgeon.
Responsibility and care
The object is to test the knowledge of the handler on this subject.

Thanks Tohme, Well have we got a lot of work to do :)  lol. I still have to get Tia her bronze though, she has not been to classes as I do not have another handler for her. Bailey loves working so I hope going through the Kevin stage will not affect him too much.

Have just had a thought, Tia is a very laid back lab, loves people, dogs anything!!  She is very calm and never gets fazed. How do I go about PAPs with her, (is that correct?)

Tally, good luck on going for Silver and as Tohme says, upwards and onwards.

My dog is a PAT dog, the process is simple; if you contact them they will send you application details.
