Whilst out a walk yesterday Lacey playing with Murphy who is an Italian Spinone (hope that is correct spelling) and as normal he sniffed her bottom and his owner jokingly said imagine if they mated what would the puppies look like so it got me thinking as to what would be the weirdest looking crossed dogs. I think that a Chinese Crested and a Newfoundland would be an intriguing mix so what do you lot think would be the wierdest looking cross

PS I am not condoning crossing of dogs or trying to give people ideas just was an idea I had an wanted to see what other (hopefully) liked minded people thought!

Well my Elkhound bitches are rather partial to my friends dobe male  ;D

I did see an Elkhound Boxzer Cross in a photo in an old yearbook.  In head it looked like a rather boxy Malinois, and was close coated with Elkhound markings.  Not usre if it had a curly tail, but would imagine it did as undocked boxers tend to have tails with a tendency to go over back.  No idea what it's colour was as it was a black and white picture and the owner always had an Elkhound after that.  I think they did a lot of hiking and camping with their dogs.

I am always interested in the colour combinastions. What would the Elkhound wolf grey which tneds to be a doiminatn pattern so with the Tan genes in the black and tan breeds.

Must say that most crosses of any breed that I have seen never are quite as striking or handsome as the parent breeds.

In the local Adtrader paper last week  :( :(
"Pug x Bull Mastiff puppies - more pug than bull mastiff"  how do they know ?  Which was the bitch ? - for her sake I hope it was the mastiff !!   And what about temperament, most of the pugs I've met have been quite feisty (for their size ;) )How irresponsible do people have to be before their heads explode ????

Strangest cross I've heard of:

Bulldog x Dacshund

:D

 Pug x Bull Mastiff puppies
I didnt think that could even be possible :( again it appears the owner has considered wealth over the dogs welfare

The most lovely cross I have seen was an Irish setter X Goldie.  It had the body of a Goldie, but the colour of the Irish!  A lovely dog!

We have ever wonderd what a boxer/Aussie Shepherd would look like...a long coated brindled boxer???? or a Red and white setter X Aussie Shepherd!

Again no-way on this earth will we try any of those crosses and if an accident DID happen the bitch will be in the vets ASAP!  Wouldn't breed a cross ever...too many of them unwanted in rescue homes, along with purebreds :(

We have an GSD/Great Dane cross where we walk, she looks incredibly scary, absolutely huge, they walk her on 2 very strong leads in case she breaks one of them!
I think some crosses are at least as attractive as the parent breed, my Honey is a stunning dog and I wish I knew what she is crossed with, so many people have offered suggestions but no one has seen another like her, she is a beautiful brindle, not dark like a boxer, more red, as tall as a Lab, fit as a fiddle and very strong, but sweet as Honey, well unless you try to take her stick anyway! :)

I have just rescued a 7week old cross puppy, sad story had 3 homes by the time she was 7 weeks old and all she wants is a bit of loving. Anyway was told she is a bullmastiff cross....not sure with !! We have a Bullmastiff bitch who wont be getting crossed or even mated with anything.
Pup looks nothing like a bullmastiff but as she's so young cant tell what she's gonna look like at the moment she resembles a German Shepherd..but is a red/brown colour...very fluffy and very obedient for a young pup. My Bullmastiff loves her to bits... would never considered a cross breed until i saw her she was very misunderstood now i'm giving her the chance others couldnt be bothered with. She's adorable..and i dont agree with cross breeding for money either but as my pup was free to good home it must have been accidental breeding.(if thats their excuse)

I have tended to find that an out an out mongrel is usally more attractive than a first cross, but then of course my opinion like anyone elses is a matter of taste.

Well to be honest Brainless, I suppose you are right because it is highly unlikely Honey is a cross between two breeds as she doesn/t strikingly look like any breed in particular, the top three candidates being Great Dane, Boxer and Staffie!!!  Would dearly love to know!

My dog is a mongrel - a Jack Russel/Border Collie/Lurcher (or so I think)
She is absolutely beautiful, and has won many a "Prettiest Bitch" contest at companion shows! She's 21" at the shoulder, short coated with a thick undercoat, and her hairs are tan with black tips. Her overall appearence is tan, but with an almost black tail and dark brown ears. She has white toes, chest, tail tip and blaze, with black around her eyes and mouth. Her ears are that of a lurcher but slightly bigger, and she has quite a muscular build. She's beautiful.
Sorry, I tend to get carried away when talking about my Holly :-)
