Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / skin disorder on a mexican hairless

my mother recently purchased 2 mexican hairless dogs from kennels. one of them is covered in a very bad rash and sore looking lumps. She was told it was just a kind of exma which would clear up. She has been to the vets with him and they said it will pass on to the other one, so keep them apart until it heals and has been given antibiotics. they are not familiar with this breed so they are unsure. can you please help

I'm know nothing about them either but if it is infectious it must be ring worm or some sort of mite. Very interested where they came from can you tell us. Jackie H

if it was infectious would they not both have it already, where they kenneled together, where there other dogs there, how was their skin

It would be worth asking the vet what condition the dog has. You can then search for it by name on a search engine such as Google and you should find lots of information.

Having a bitch myself that has allergies which manifest themselves as skin problems it can be a long and expensive route to improve the dogs standard of life.

Did your mum get the dogs from a breeder? If so did they not offer any advice? I would seriously consider taking them back if that is possible or at the very least asking for a refund with a view to using the money to cover the vets bills. Are they insured?
