Topic Dog Boards / Health / To go the Vet or not to go!!

Hello,

My 4 month old Old English Sheepdog has been ill in the last 2 weeks with a viral infection.  He has been on anti-biotics and was even kept in the vets on a drip one night.

My question relates to a lump that I found near his collar bone last night.  It is quite big and feels soft like it's full of pus or something.  This evening, it seems to be bigger and there are also harder parts of lump.

Would any of you go to the vet about this?  Could this be as a result of his viral infection; although he was at the vet yesterday and it was either not there or not noticed!

I feel a bit stupid rushing back to the vet again.  How can you tell when to go and when not to???

Who cares if you feel or seem stupid, go girl go. Most vets worth their salt would rather see a dog a dozen times with nothing wrong than not have it bought in when there was. And lets face it your the one who pays anyway.

Thanks for the advice.  I went to the vet and they said a foreign body had penetrated his skin, probably a grass shoot or something and caused an abcess.  They gave him an anti-inflammatory injection into it and said to watch it for the next 6 weeks.  It may need to be cut out.

Thanks again for your help.  This forum is absolutely fantastic.
