Hi
I have just cut my lawn, i have a petrol mower because i have a fairly big garden, Toby barks at the mower, so i usually shut him in the house while i cut the lawn,
today i thought why oh why do i shut him in when he should sit and stay if i tell him, so i made him sit at the door left the door open so he could see me and told him to sit and wait, well the little darling did as he was told and it was so much nicer for him because he didnt get lock in and he could still see me, after i finished and turned off the mower he still sat there watching but didnt move a mussle, dont know why i havent done this before now  he always sit and stays when told, welldone Toby

I wish Alfie would do this. When I mow the lawn he jumps about in front of the mower as if to say "bet you can't get me!!"

Well done Toby!
I know what you man Camerons... Emmy has a fab time when I cut the lawn, running around like a nut case... she is completly knackered at the end of it all! She's good though... never actually goes near the mower or gets in my way!
Thats what Toby normally does, so thats why i was locking him indoors incase he hurt himself on the mower but making him sit and wait by the door worked, he was an angel :) he didnt move from that spot just watched me, part of the garden goes round the house, when i mowered that he couldnt see me, so i thought that maybe the time he would give in and follow me but he didnt bless, i swept up the garden and put the cutting in recycle bags and he still stayed there, he didnt move until i went up and fussed him and boy did i fuss him and gave him a little treat :D

Aaahh...that's a lovely success story to read and I can tell you're so proud...its great when you start experiencing this progress isn't it :D
Well done you and Toby
xx
Thankyou, the thing is he proberbly would have done this earlier but i didnt think to try him, as soon as he starts to bark i just put him indoors, Toby has taught me a lesson today, that is to have more faith in him, he is 15 months old and although he can be very boisterous he has been quite easy to train, proberbly made easier because im at home with him nearly all day.

Well done, it can be a worry if your dog interferes with the mower have seen some nasty accidents to dogs teeth caused by mowers.
