We are planning on getting an sbt puppy and seeing as weve only ever had older staffs (rescues), i could do with some advice on puppies! We can cope with feeding, toilet training, worming, vaccinations, exercise etc but Im not sure on one thing. My partner will be taking the dog to work but i was thinking that 8 weeks would be too young. What do other people do when they first get a puppy ie do you take time off work, if not, what else do you do, are crates a good idea if you go out and how long is it safe for the dog etc etc. Please give me any advice, thankyou :8) xx

What does hubby do ? If the pup will be outside with him she will need all her vaccs first. If pup will be inside with hubby will he be able to supervise her and pay her attention while he is working ? Bearing in mind they are generally into everything and anything at this age. I have a 13 week old staffy bitch and there is NO WAY I could take her to work because she would be into everything
Crates are fine but pup shouldnt be in for more than an hour or two at this age.

He works inside and out. What did you do with your puppy when you first got her? And what do you do now if you are working? :8) xx

OH is there when Im at work ( he works shifts) and the short time she's alone she is in a crate
( only because she's quite destructive at present and this is the safest method for both her - and my poor half eaten house). This morning she has torn a strip from my leather sofa .
My eldest Staffy can be left in a room without inflicting any damage whatsoever
If he can supervise her then thats fine  - also pups do tend to sleep quite a bit during the day too - although this is not guaranteed to every individual pup ;) but the majority do.
