Hi,
I am using a leather training lead with my staff puppy.
What I would like to know is, what kind of wax or protection I could use for the leather?

recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Ashleigh

I use leather patrol leads at work so I'm out in all kinds of weathers and temperatures all year round.
I use neatsfoot oil when it's new.  It gets really supple with daily use and I oil it only now and again when it gets soaking wet and freezing cold.

I use neatsfoot oil occasionally if the leather is dry/cracking and saddle soap regularly - you can get both at saddlers shops. They make leather look as good as new and last for years!

Kocholine is the best treatment for leather; I still have harnesses and leads from my first dog 14 years ago.  If the leather is good quality bridle leather it will last forever if treated correctly.

Where can you buy these products?

Hi
Thank you for all your suggestions.
I will go and look for some.It is a very expensive lead so I want to try anything for it to last as long as it can.

Thanks again,

Ashleigh

Just a note about Neatsfoot oil, had a dog take the cloth I had beed using to treat some leather with this product and she was very ill from chewing a very small amount. Guess no one else would be as careless as I was but young dogs can be so quick to snatch anything you take your eyes off.
