I was looking in the dog paper and like the Croft freedom play pen , does anyone have one or what do you think of them ???

I used a puppy pen when amy was a baby for her own safety. I put  her to bed at night or if I went out. It still sits under my stair but is open all the time now & amy often pops in for a rest but has promoted herself to sleeping on our bed. I keep Amys bed in it and a bowl of water. Its strange its the only place she will go for a drink even though she is fed in the kitchen & we have water in the kitchen for our westie. Good luck with your puppy.

thanks..it's a whelping type of pen for when the pups are on their feet ..mine are just on 5 weeks and I have a very large pen for them but it's just got one large side door and hard for mum to get in and out of. the one I have seen the freedom pen looks very good it has an added door panel and big tray just wonderd if anyone had one and are pleased with it as they are a lot of money so wanted some feedback before i orderd????

I prefer the puppy panels myself, cheaper, much more manouverable, you can use them in front of whelping box when small, or use them in the garden and you can make them as big as you like

The one Inca is looking at has a floor and removable sides so can be flat packed, I had a look at the website it looks really good!  A lot more sturdy than the panels

hi I think it might order it it does look good ... I'm not fussed on the panels i would rather have a floor to it for easy cleaning , it does like good i think ?

Have had a look at them on the trade stand at a few shows, they do look good, but I stick with the individual panels as I have such a collectin of them now!

I made up my own puppy pen, for the floor I used the biggest tray that Crofts supplied for the bottom of their cages, plastic with a decent lip, the sides were then made up with the appropriate size puppy panels which just fit neatly into the lip making it "water ;)"proof .  Its in the loft at the mo so I can't tell you the exact measurements but it would be I guess about 5 - 5 1/2ft by about 2 1/2ft.  I can't remember what it cost me at the time but I do remember it worked out a lot less than the actual puppy pen that they sold.

Snooze and snack do a 3 foot square base for puppy pens,it is what I use as a whelping box, and then it becomes the pen when attached to a crate.  It lasts them until they are old enough to go outside to play.

I've used my collection of puppy panels for all sorts of things - you should be looking at flexibility of use and I think that the individual panels win hands down on that score.

I am still using panels that I bought 15 years ago and they are fine. Personally I would'nt buy a puppy pen that could not be adapted for other uses.

Only thing you have to watch with the panels more so the thinner ones  when they are puppies is that they don't get their teeth jammed as they will attempt to chew anything.

I use mine quite often but I have the heavier metal ones for at home and use the thinner ones at the shows or caravan when they are supervised 100%.

A freind of mine came home to a puppy with it's teeth stuck it was in a terrible state. She was only away for about 30 mins. She had to get the metal snips and her husband held the puppy up to release it.  She was every so upset for a long time thinking she had the puppy safe.
