put you off showing??
Just checked the forecast for the weekend(Blackpool). Its pretty grim and although it does put a dampener(sorry !!) on things it doesn't stop me going....people think I'm mad! After all when you tell people your going to drive for miles then stand around in a cold muddy marquee for hours on end in order to go into a ring with your dog and POSSIBLY win a piece of cardboard it does sound a bit odd doesn't it LOL.
Must admit though it does make me think twice  if the weathers c##p and its an outdoor open show!

yes I think we are all mad...It doesn't normally put us off going, it just means we complain, moan and wine all day long!!!!

My friends don't understand why I show dogs as its alot of money and you don't get much to show for it but its still MY hobby!  And I love it!

That is just such a great answer queenie,
YOUR hobby - how much do other people spend on train-spotting / motor racing / football matches etc etc.......... who cares what others think :-o
I love going to the shows with my dog, he qualified for crufts at his 2nd ever show and I am hooked!
only bad thing is.... i need to get fit, he is a german shepherd dog and at the moment I cant run him round and round and round the ring !

I'm going and I'm not even showing my dogs, I'm showing someone elses although I did breed her.  I'm dreading it, just hope that she behaves and moves for me.

I have spent the last 2 days  stewarding for Cheshire Show.
!st day was really warm and we got sunburnt slightly,
yesterday was horrid,it was raining I couldnt write the
results the judges book got soaked so she couldnt write in it
( we sorted that out though) and the breed we were doing (Labs)
the exhibitors didnt want to go under cover so the judge
myself and the other steward were soaked :)
It took me nearly 2 hours to get there and we did this for nothing
only our lunch..........mad yes we are :)

I think people I work with (although they don't say it) think I'm quite mad.  Someone recently asked me how much you win, and was quite surprised when I said 'nothing'.  Although I had just won £2 (!!!) in a breed ch show.
It is a hobby, which may get a little expensive at times, but then I think of the £60 I spent on the last football match myself and my husband went to recently - and the team lost.   At least with dog showing, we've travelled the country and met some great people - including those on CD's.

Hi Archer, it doesn't put me off showing but I do think it has an effect on my dogs performance on the day.  Wet weather does not make my dobes want to show off in the least, they have that look on there face saying "will you just please take me home and let me sit in front of the fire"  :D
