It's strange because my toy bitch was looking really big a few days ago (day 35) and then today day 38 she looks somewhat smaller. Could she have reabsorbed? Or could she have looked larger prior because of drinking a lot of water, etc. Just is odd to look at her and think where did that huge belly go? Granted she still has quite a pooch, just not like it was a couple days ago.

My girl did exactly the same thing this time last week, my vet scanned her and said all was well, nice live healthy pups kicking on screen, she said because there are quite a few pups the horns of her uterus have folded so my girl has changed shape and actually measures 1" less than she did a couple of days before!

If you are worried take her to the vet and get her scanned.

Good luck

Thanks Sharon,

Perhaps that is the case in this situation too. I notice she is "showing" much earlier with this pregnancy than her last. Not sure if that means anything or not (ie; more puppies or bigger pups than last time). But so far so good. Wasn't sure if my imagination is playing tricks on me or what in regards to her looking bigger a few days ago then today.

I've opted not to have her scanned as trips to the vet stress her out. Just have to be patient and wait it out.

Hi genie1, how is your girl doing??   Sadly my girl has done the exact of what you were asking, she has absorbed her whole litter at 7 weeks pregnant.  I noticed over the past couple of days that she seemed to be getting smaller, she stopped eating and today she started crying and whining a lot.  We took her to the vet had her scanned and she confirmed the litter was no more.  I am completely gutted, after the bad start we had, its been one heck of a roller coaster ride.  She is now on 2 courses of anti-biotics due to the 9 pups she was carrying we have to take her back to the vet on Wednesday when she will decide what to do next.  Either spay or continue with medication.  Her white cell blood count was Normal/high so she is bordering on an infection, but I'm hoping and praying that the medication she is taking now will stop it going any further.

Good luck with yours let us know how you're getting along

Sharon,

I just got done posting to you on the other thread you made. I'm so sorry that has happened. I imagine the heartbreak you feel.

My girl is getting a bit bigger but not by much. I'm very nervous especially after reading what happened with your girl. I didn't realize they could absorb at 7 weeks. Thought at that stage they would abort (not any less scary!) but wow...now I'm watching her every day to see if she's any bigger or not.

It's stressful being a breeder that's for sure and the heartaches sure happen too often sometimes.

You'll remain in my thoughts.

Yes, it really has been heartbreaking :-(  two days ago, she started aborting, but she only passed 3, so yesterday we went to the vets and over the day she had 3 oxytocin injections, but that only produced another 1 slightly bigger pup.  My vet wasn't too concerned about her not passing them all, as the pups will slowly breakdown.  We had an x-ray and it didn't show any skeletons, so my guess is they are slowly being absorbed now :-(

When she delivered her pup yesterday, I think she was convinced it was a live pup, I picked it up on the paper she delivered it on............she went absolutely mad, thinking I was taking her baby, she was barking, crying jumping all over me, really dreadful.

Yes your right, it does make you wonder why we do it doesn't it!  I feel so guilty for putting my girl through it, she looks so sad too  :-(

Good luck, I'm sure everything will go well with your girl, let us know  when she delivers.

Sharon, I am so sorry to hear your news.  You have had such a rotten time with this pregnancy.  I hope she recovers soon.
