we have been told after the final scan, that the first pup is backwards and the second is sideways. As she is a close coupled bitch and the uterine horns cannot both be straight as the same time, this is normal (the sideways one), We have been told what to do if the backwards one was to get stuck, and have been assured that 50% of pups are born bakwards so things should be ok, but to be aware just in case. Anyone with experience with this and has comments would be greatly appreciated.

Apparently pups being born backwards is, as you say, just about as common as the classic 'head-first' position. As long as the hind feet are coming first, and not the rump, there should be no problem at all. I have had several pups born like this and they've popped out easily. Rump-first can be a little trickier though.
thanks Jeangenie, reassurance was just what i needed :D they are not 'BIG' pups so they said she should be ok.

One of Ruby's pups in her first litter, came out backwards too, with no problems.
Could they still see 6 Emma,
Good luck, it's not long now :)
Mitch.
it was too crowded in there to be able count at this late stage so sorry can't help with the guesses :D :D :D
When my Sibe girl had her puppies, all of them were born backwards. And she had seven. :D It wasn't a problem for us at all, them being backwards. I think I read in the Book of the Bitch that the only hard part about a pup being born backwards, feet first is that the direction of the hair isn't smooth and could cause some discomfort. But my girl Kieron did a wonderful job with all seven of her backwards born puppies. :) Good luck!
