My dobe is nearly 19 weeks and he is fed on Beta Puppy, he seems to be doing fine.  At the moment he is on 3 meals a day.  I am reading the previous notes about garlic for fleas, also I read somewhere about vegetable oil to keep their coat glossy.  What other tips has anyone got that would help in keeping him healthy?

I would not be adding anything to a complete food if he is doing well on it, as this can unbalance things and cause problems.

You will know if the food is suiting him if he has a glossy coat, and his waste is wel formed and solid, with minimum odour.

Yes his coat is glossy and no problems with his bowels.  One other problem though, sometimes he tries to eat his poo.

That is perfectly normal but obviously distateful to us.  The only thing to do is watch him carefully and pick it up before he has a chance to eat it, hopefully then it won't become a habit.

He only does it in the garden, he doesn't attempt to eat it if we are out, I just go over and pick it up.  At home though in the garden, most times I am waiting inside the back door with the bag and scooper and I have to run up the garden when he has finished.  I think he thinks its a game - he tries to grab a bit and run with it.  He doesn't seem to be doing it as much.

Rather than chasing after him to pick up his poo (thereby convincing him that it is a valuable resource and something worth hanging on to!) have you tried calling him to you the instant he's finished? Then you can praise him, and then go and pick it up.

Yes I have done that and he will still pick up a bit and then come to me.  I don't actually chase him I just run down the garden to where he has been and then just pick it up.  But it is getting better, it is not every time he goes.
