I am considering buying a miniature poodle pup. I was brought up with various dogs but have never owned one myself as an adult and have some questions (some basic) so I hope you can help.

- Bitch v dog? I don't want to breed and have no real preference.  Anything I should know about either?
- Good with children? Don't have any yet, but may in future - any likely probs? I have heard that apricot are not so good with children.
- Any specific health issues with them?
- What age should the pup be when I get him/her?
- Roughly what cost?
- How do I find a reputable source?
