Hi at the end of this month my friend and i will be camping in South Wales. This is the first time either of us has gone camping and we will also be joined by my 11 month old springer spaniel. We plan on games on the beech, long country walkes and the odd pub lunch. Do any of you have and tips (besides plenty of water and poo bags). Any help welcome.

Hi, we've just come back from camping with our Akita. He loves it. Make sure you have someway of securing your dog while you are at the site. We use a chain, attached to the towbar, but you could take one of those screw-into-the-ground-things. Make sure the campsite accepts dogs. Decide where he will sleep - if in the tent, make sure he can't sneak out under the tent wall. A cage is very handy for that. Our dog sleeps in the car, but if it's warm we have to be up early to let him out. Make sure the beaches allow dogs - we were in West Wales & very few beaches allow dogs May-Sept. Watch out for sheep on country walks! If it's warm, look out for pubs which will let you eat outside & you don't have to leave him in the car. Don't forget his food!
Have a good time.

hi ,
just make sure he cannot undo the zips of the tent , like one of my does!!! I took her the 1st time a few weeks ago and she let the rest of the gang out,she now sleeps in a cage !
Camp at a dog friendly country pub, drink real ale and chill,
what's the problem :) ;)
I take my dalmatian (15 month) camping with me and we bought a shackle and attached it to the tow ring thing off the car, we had one of those screw things for the ground but now its a very weird shape, she bent it. She snapped two leads on our first camping trip trying to escape from her screw thing. We bought a bed especially for camping, just big enough for her to curl up in and I place it against the side of my bed and cover her up so she stays warm. She loves camping and gets so excited when we get the gear out. After the first couple of times she calmed down a bit and is more well behaved. Good luck.

Take a long lead(20 or more feet long) so the dog can have some freedom but not get to far or run away and take a cratefor night time.
