Hi my son who has recently left school and has started working with my friends husband was at a job the other day and came home talking about this dog who belonged to the people who's house they were working on.My son couldnt stop going on about how lovely this dog was but didnt know what breed it was.Going by his description,it was reddy tan colour with hanging down long ears of medium build/height and had bright blue eyes.At first i said it sounded like a hungarian viszla but then when i had a look on here at the viszla's they dont seem to have blue eyes or do they sometimes??What else do you think it could of been if not a vizsla??

It could have been a cross breed.  Weimaraner and a Vizsla or Rhodesian Ridgeback?  Or Sibe with another breed. Combinations are endless.

Ive never seen a Vizsla with blue eyes (unless a very young puppy) even the faulty eye colour tends to be yellowy not blue ,ears are quite big and V shaped but i wouldnt neccasaryly describe them as hanging down (like a spaniel)
its possible it could be a cross breed vizsla :)

Hi thanks for the replys...........well i've just shown my son the pic of the dog admin posted,sorry cant remember how to spell the name,and he took one look and said oh yes that was definately it!!!But when i showed him a pic of a hungarian viszla the other day he said that was it too,lol,so i dont know.He did say that the tail was shorter than the dog in the pic but the ears were about right so i really dont know,i'll keep looking as its bugging me but like some of you have said it could be a cross breed although my son said he did ask what breed and the man told him but couldnt remember what it was,typical male(ooops any present male company accepted lol),never mind thanks to you all anyway.

It was probably a poorly coloured Weimeraner - I've seen them in all sorts of shades from silver through to rust. Their tails are docked shorter but otherwise the general look of the dog is the same as a Vizla

Vizslas are considerably smaller than the weims it isnt always that obvious from pictures but when you stand the two together the difference is massive. the standard for a Vizsla is 21-25 inches but the wiems is 22-27 inches that two inches can make a massive difference over the whole dog!
I must agree ive seen weims that are nearly brown as well so it is perfectly possible it is a weim.:)
