up the road from me there is a obesely fat(since puppy hood) short stumpy legged bitch, who i suppose is "meant "to be a lab,she is no older than two no younger than 18months, apart from being the size of a table with awful conformation when you see this dog move the words hip dysplacia appear like flashing red lights in your head.
owned by a family with at least 5 young kids, two xmases ago when she was tiny (but still fat!) she appeared in my garden on xmas day,so i phoned them up & they hadnt even realised shed gone. before they had her they had a old dog that died then a puppy that was too much &too sharp for them, always escaping & im 99% sure that they had that puppy down in the park before it had any vaccs (if it ever had any)),but that one just dissapered & they got the lab.
as you know i work in a photo shop & yesterday was near tears at the sight of deving pics of the lab & 4 new born pups! that poor bitch those poor pups,i would put money on the fact that she has had no health checks. really hard to tell who dad is or if planned or not,but 3black pups & 1 yellow (no white markings or anything indicating a mistake)so id sort of guess it was planned!
well words just fail me really!

Labradors seem to attract the very worst breeders with only money on their minds I'm afraid. They are destroying the breed I love

Definitely words fail me.  Why do supposed people who like dogs treat them like this.  My OH has just come home and told me about some woman he got talking to whilst changing her pc (he is an engineer).  She had bought a pup about 2 years ago, got fed up with it because it was too hyper so got rid of it.  She apparently has now bought a Lab pup but has now decided to get rid of that at 8 months old because she thinks it is too hyper.  Would of course have nothing to do with the fact that it is locked in a kitchen during the day from 8am to 6pm, and then when said people get home gets moaned at for wanting to play etc.  As you said words fail me!

That poor girl! some people don't deserve to be remotely associated with this wonderful breed.  Can't they see that it's wrong what they are doing?! it makes me mad!

Some people just don't deserve to have dogs at all.  I have heard of people who love puppies getting one then wanting it out down 8 months laters when it grew up!  Luckily one such dog (a lab, if a bad example) was rescued by friends of mine and is now a very loving and happy 3 year old.

Our old ESS came to us from a gamekeeper, via a family who had decided that they wanted an ESS for no more reason than "we liked the ears".  This family were completely inactive and shut Phoebe (the ESS) in the kitchen all day and never exercised her, then professed surprise when she became destructive.  They advertised her in the paper as a "problem dog", which didn't deter my father one bit, and we rehomed her.  Best thing we ever did, she was a fantastic dog till the end :)

However, a year later we saw an ESS advertised and we thought the number looked familiar.  When we phoned them up, it was the same people.  They'd decided to try their luck with a puppy, only for it to end up with exactly the same problems as Phoebe did.  They honestly couldn't understand why this was, and said that they "loved" ESS, but had just been unlucky with the ones they had chosen.  My father had some words with them and told them that the problem wasn't with the dogs, it was with them as owners.  Needless to say, this didn't make him flavour of the month!

Some people just seem to do no research on a breed before they get it.  If this family had, they would have noticed that ESS are highly active and need to be kept busy.  They're gundogs, for God's sake!

mad isnt it? especially as there are breeds that need less exercise/stimualation available!
