Took our dogs temp' this morning 8:00am and it had dropped from a constant 101.5 down to 98, through out the day she has been panting and restless, drifting into sleep now and again, we think we are prepared but any advice would be greatful, believe this is the first stage of birth, any idea how long on average it could be, she is a 3 year old Bullmastiff first litter, some of the things we have ready are heated blanket, hot water bottle, scales, scissors, newspapers, old clean towels, heat lamp, id tags, vet on standby, we are prepared for a very long night, she is on day 60 of her pregnancy

Most important piece of advice is to relax, don't crowd her [$ don]t keep interfering!

It could be another 24 + hours every bitch is different! You have to be with her 24 hours a day at this stage

Have you got Vetbed(or similar in white)for after the whelping has finished?

Do tell us all the result! I have been searching for news of the birth, but couldn't any. I expect you're too busy with the pups to spend time on you Computer!
