hello, i have just been having a look to see if i could find any info on showing as i am a newbie! i live in blackpool and i wandered what the event was in blackpool.
as i would be very interested in being a spectator.

Hi,  Next weekend is Blackpool Championship dog show, where over 3 days (Friday 25th to Sunday 27th June) several thousands dogs will be shown.  It is held at Crown Fields, Westby Road, Nr. Blackpool.  There will be lots of sign posts, but it is easy to find, if you head out of Blackpool towards Westby, passing the new B& Q, you come to Peel Corner traffic lights, where you turn Right, then Left, and follow the signs straight to the show ground.   Dogs are shows in Groups (the breeds are classified into groups according to type and history) and Friday is the Toy, Terrier and Utility Groups, Saturday is Hound and Gundog Groups, and Sunday is Pastoral and Working Group.  The finale on Sunday will be Best in Show, where all 7 group winners will compete for the Best in Show title for this year. There will also be loads of trade stands, selling all things doggy, food concessions (and a bar!).  Most exhibitors are happy to talk to you about their dog and the breed in general, just pick your time carefully before you talk to them - not a good idea to strike up a conversation immediately before someone is due to go into the ring (and with a lot of people not a good idea to approach them if they are just coming out of the ring having lost ;) ).  If I have forgotten to tell you anything, someone else will be along shortly to fill in the gaps, or why not join and you can ask questions?
