My partners friend owns a 7 year old bullmastiff, before we got Maisie our 9 week old staffie they often came to visit. After Maisie has had her vaccinations would it be ok for this to continue ? How might they react towards one another and what would be the best way to introduce them ?

Thanks for any suggestions

Hi bogy,

1st of all they will have to be introduced on neutral ground i.e. local field, park anywhere like that. A place that will mean the same to both of them.

I have a 18 week old staff. We introduced him to my parents 2 year old lab x staff when he was about the same age as yours.
They met in the street. Then we gradually went towards my parents house. Then (still on their leads) we went into their house. It looked bad. It looked as though they just would not get along. The reason for this was that they were on their leads!

The next time we let them meet, we just went straight into the house and straight into the garden. They just play all the time now!

They should be fine. Obviously, if there is any sign of aggresion, just walk away with yours.

Let me know how you get on, and good luck!!

Ashleigh
