Hi Guys, spent last 24hrs fighting to keep little one alive.I`m feeding her a little every 30 mins.I think the other 8 who are twice her weight of 8ozs have been pushing her off.I`m putting her back with litter inbetween feeds now as she is now vocal ,she is still very weak.I can only keep trying and pray.Vet says she might or might not survive.I`ll keep you all updated when I can.

look at the post where beef liver is used as a remedy. I found it very good! Just type 'beef liver' in search. Any thing is worth a try. Good luck!!!!

little one only 2 days old (13th june) can I try yhis at that age?

We tried the Beef liver drops with a puppy in my sisters litter and swear that is what saved her!  From what you have said, I would try it with your puppy - I don't think it would hurt as you only give two little drops.

Good luck

I`ve given little one the drops all day if anything she`s worse. It`s probably been too late for her, sadly she died at 3 am.

So sorry Morag
I know what its like. We tried for 10 days with our little Min Pin but he just grew weaker and we had him PTS. Its heartbraking but sometimes just not meant to be. You must now focus on the other healthy ones

This is exactly what I needed to see this morning. I was going to log on and ask the very same thing.  My runt is not doing well at all either, the bigger ones just shove her right out of the way and run all over her. I have been making room for her and holding her up there and keeping the bigger ones away so she can eat, I was thinking that mom's milk has to be better for her than a milk replacement. I will try those drops. Thank you!

Mums milk is definately best,so put her on the teats before the others get their fill,i know its hard but you have to persevere and with luck it will have been worth it in the end, good luck.

i think there is certain times to wean yourself.if the runt is very ill and the mum does not help in any way or other tell tale signs of the runt having no chance i think its natures way and the mums way of letting the strong ones survive.i have tried many times to go thru whole days awake to try and save the runt and it not helping at all.who knows why at the end of the day if i think theres a reason why they dont make it developmental/congenital or not but if when i try its not helping i dont over do it as nothing will help.

My bitch whelped a litter of six last August and the smallest weighed less than two ounces (toy dog).  She couldn't get anywhere near the teats so I kept the litter in a warmed box but every couple hours I put the smallest on the teat for ten minutes or more before the others woke up so she got a good chance.  Then all back to sleep and start again.  It's very, very hard work for the first few weeks but, although still much smaller than she should be, she is a healthy nine month old little rip who is very full of beans and the cheekiest puppy you have ever met!

I'm sorry too. My littlest one didn't make it either. :(

I had a little one in my last litter who weighed a lot less and was a lot smaller than her siblings BUT she was such a feisty wee thing, I just knew she would pull through.   And she did, although I started giving her the Pedigree weaning porage at 2 weeks as opposed to 3 weeks like the rest of the litter and I almost lost her at 3 weeks when they all had they first taste of steak mince and she choked on the piece I gave her.

Lia (As she's called) was 2 years old in April, she's fractionally smaller than her sister's but full of character and so very, very pretty.

If they are feisty and willing to try to push through their siblings then I say give them a chance, if more often than not they are at one side of the whelping box, Mother Nature is telling you something.
