Hi...

I was wondering if someone could give me some advice if at all possible...

We have a 13 weeke old rottweiler bitch puppy, she is a great little love to us all but just lately she has started to try and mount our leg's where ever we may be... Is there a reason for this or is it just a puppy thing???

When she does this we just look at her tell her NO an push her away from our leg's (never hurting her of course)... Then we ignore her for a little while so that she know's this is not acceptable behaviour...

Can anyone shed some light on this matter for us or is it just playful fun to her???

Thank's

Gaynor.

It's normal puppy behaviour. She's just getting a little excited.  Push her away or move her by taking her collar but I wouldn't bother with the 'NO' or the ignoring.  Pretend you didn't notice and take her mind off of it by doing something else with her.  I only have one dog that continued to do that when adult and she is the one who, when she did it as a pup we made a big deal about it.

Hi Sally...

Thank's for the advice, we will be trying this with Kara, maybe telling her NO is not really appropriate, we will try the collar treatment as well as the ignoring bit... We have noticed that when we do ignore her she seems to do it only momentarily and because we have ignored her she just scampers away to play with her toys's as if nothing has happened and she is oblivious to the fact what she has just done...

So who know's may be we will able to nip this in the bud before she start's getting any worse at doing it... Once again thank's for the advice and we will keep you posted of the outcome...

don't worry, it is normal puppy behavior, she may be theething still. My Labrador bitch, whenever she greets you in the morning, or when she meets an new person, she mouths your hand, to say hello, usually, if you are wearing shorts or no socks she will lick your legs. It is natural puppy behavior, try getting ones from the butchers, or something hard to chew, is shouls stop soon.
hope it helps,
Izzi
