HI
Toby is now 15 months old, he gets plenty of walks and is fine stops and sits at curbs, well behaved at home, now behaves with visitors but we still have one problem with him,
My hubby and i are into classic cars, we went to a show this sunday it was at mersea beach, we often take Toby to the beach at Mersea, so we took him to the car show with us, well he was so excited he was like a mad dog, he pulled on the lead so i didnt want to take him round the cars, so hubby went to see the cars, my son and i took Toby to the beach which he loved and had a good swim,
Later on hubby said let me take Toby because he was pulling and hubby is stronger than me (usually i take Toby and train him) so went round the cars, he tugged and pulled im glad hubby had hold of him, he did calm down a little but still pulled,
Everytime  i tried to get eye contact with him to tell him to do anything he didnt take any notice,
Is this just an age thing, we would so much like to take Toby to the car shows with us but his behaviour makes it hard.

All training starts with showing the dog what we want, followed by teaching him to follow the command for that behaviour but no dog is 'trained' until they behave as we've taught in ALL situations.

Car shows are a new scene for your dog, he's excited by everything new around him, the new sights, sounds, smells etc.  When he's been a few times he will calm down.  At the moment it probably a bit like letting a small child loose in 'toys R us'!  He'll get there.

Bring treats and put him in a sit or down position every time you stop. Another is to teach the watch me command which I have found very useful with Junior. I tell him watch me and bring my hand from his face to my eye's, the minute he looks at me I give him a treat. I now use praise and treats so he's not sure which one he will be getting, but the main thing is when I use this command all his attention is on me. :)

Thanks for your replys, i will persevere, problem with treats when Toby gets excited he does'nt want to know, the only thing that works with him is cheese but he is on a diet.
