Unless the society has it's own website you won't find the resultws anywhere except what critiques appear in the dog press.

Now if all open shows had a lovely site liek the Hound Club of East Anglia for whom our own Jackie H is webmistress, then that would be really nice.

I must agree - Jackie did a great job and got the East Anglia results posted in record speedy time.

On the subject of results and critiques, why do some never appear in the dog press?   Is it down to the judge not writing up their report, or the secretary not sending them in?   Whatever the reason, it's annoying when you've entered a show, done well, and never see the comments written about you.   I'm still waiting to see the beagle reports from Crufts!

Most of the time I think it is the judge but some times it is the dog press. We, the HCEA have it not only written into the judging contracts, we also chase it up. Trouble is sometimes if it is latter than 4 weeks after the show the dog press will not publish so what we do is put the critique into the club magazine but that does mean waiting a long while to read it. May be worth in most cases asking the club secretary if the judge has sent a critique to them and if they have asking for a copy. But it is, I think, usually the fault of the judge and I think it poor form. If they know why they placed as they did they can write a report, it does not even call for a command of the English language else I would not be able to do it.

see jackie you do do a good job
as for the missing results i dont no i cant see why if they have writen then on the day they cant send then to the dog pappers it is such a shame as i like reeding the coments made on my dogs no matter if they are pulling your dog apart i can look at it and take it in were i can improve next time and when you get the good results it makes me feel pleased to own such a nice dog i really do hope they get it sorted as it seems to be happening more and more
bye bye for now fiona

Fiona,

Do you mean the SWECA show on 10.01.04?  - not sure if there's a more recent show that you're talking about.    If so, this was in Our Dogs on 20.02.04.   I don't know if you have an on-line subscription, but if you want to e-mail me, I'll send you the results.

Judges should not pull your dog to pieces because they should not be fault judging. It is helpful if the judge can say something that will improve the way you show or suggests something to improve your dogs presentation but nothing you can do will cure a construction fault so there is no point in drawing others attention to it, that is up to them to find. It is correct to make it clear if you can why the winning dog was preferred to the dog who was second but I still do not think that pointing out a fault to the world is acceptable unless it was the reason for your decision or to explain why the dogs movement was not as it should be. Any critique should be written with care not to cause distress and perhaps that is why it sometimes takes a long while to do it.

However if you ask the judge face to face then I think it is acceptable to say your dog is short in the upper arm or you would be better placed if the dog did not have a hernia.

Missing critiques really annoy me, I think it should be made a condition of judging. I especially get annoyed when the judge makes you wait there to write their critique and then it never gets published. What do they do with it, just throw it away?!

it really anoyes me as well when they make you stand there and write the critique and then dont publish it as well i think they should be made to publish them we want to no what they think and apreaciate there views why cant they be botherd to put it in all the hard work was done on writing them on the day

ok i said that wrong they dont pull them to pieace they just state the places why the dog that beat you did e.t.c i dont mind been beaten by a dog that i no is better than mine no dog is perfect all we can do is try to produce the best dogs we can and keep improving our stock

what if we where to get our critiques in the ring, like some of the gsds they get to hear what is being said about there dogs would that solve the problem of not getting them in the papers.
Or would that just make the show to long if the judges had to say every critique out loud?

thats a good idea they could write then down as normail and then give them to you i dont think it would take much longer that way but they would never let us do it would they..........................................................................
