We will be picking our Puppy up soon, It will is a 3 hour journey to get home, Does anyone have any suggestions for helping the puppy to not suffer from Travel sickness? Or is there any pills or liquid that is safe to give to puppies aged 8 weeks?
Any suggestions welcome.
Most puppies fall asleep in the car, especially on a long journey.
Has the breeder had it in a car yet? If it has been you may have a better idea if it will be car sick or not. You can get something from your vet if you think it could be a problem. I had to give one of mine a sickness tablet when he went to new home. He'd been in the car a few times, so I knew he would be ill. I don't know if you could use an 'over the counter' sickness tablet, but ask your local chemist. The age of the pup would probably put me off, but I've never needed it on a long term basis. (Well, I do, as I get travel sick myself

FOR LINDYLOU :-) have you tried ginger for your car sickness? I gave my niece who is car sick and pregnant 'Rocks' organic ginger cordial from the health food shop and it worked for her. I have used it for years for sickness, nausea and various other tummy things. I give it neat in a little glaass. There are other makes :-D

Hi guest, :-) I wouldn't worry, the chances are your puppy will be fine. I would take a strong carboard box the pup can't get out of with newspaper + kitchen roll, plastic bin bag for waste, a couple of towels -one for the box and a spare, a cuddly toy and of course a bowl and empty bottle to fill with water the pup is used to drinking. The puppy will probably sleep anyway. I would not buy over the counter sickness pills , I would wait and see how your pup gets on but think it best to get that sort of thing from a vet .Good luck with your puppy , join the forum then you can let us know how you get on :-D
Reddoor, yes I've tried almost everything! I've suffered all my life. That's why I drive everywhere. I'm ok if I'm driving ;)
As I mentioned I wasn't sure about over the counter pills for dogs. I've always gone to my vet, if needing any for my dogs. Though mine all seem to be ok, and have never need them. Exept for this one pup, which has now outgrown it's sickness.
