Hi
I have a long haired GSD (bitch) 22 months old, who is just coming out of season and is moalting, when I brush her I can see she has dry flakey skin almost like dandruff, is there any thing I can give her for this or is it just because she is moalting at the moment?
Thanks
K

i've just asked the same thing on another site and they advised using flaxseed oil, or giving sardines or mackerel in oil, to help the skin!!hope this helps!!

as well as giving oily fish get some aloe vera gel with a good aloe content, this works really well on flaky skin and is quite safe in fact beneficial if ingested.- contains lots of nutrients and good for stomach probs

Hi
Thanks for your replys,
I do give her sardines once a week as a treat but in tomato sauce not oil so I will change that.
As for her feed she is a really fussy eater and believe it or not the only food she seems to like is tesco tinned food with mixer.
About the aloe vera gel do you mean you can really safely eat it?
Again thanks for you replys.

You can still feed tinned fish in tomato sauce but feed Fish Body Oil in capsules as well.  The oil that fish are tinned with is NOT FBO!

If you do a google search on Forever Living you will see that there are Aloe Vera Gel products especially designed to be taken internally.

Hi Kayl, what I meant was that you rub the aloe vera into her skin but dogs being dogs will lick at it a bit but it won't do her any harm if she does.

I have to agree with you on the Aloe Vera for the flaky skin... We bought our's back from Jamaica (a life time's supply... lol)...

We have a 13 week old rottie puppy who has just got over Sarcoptic Mange/Scabies, the medication that we got from the vet cleared that up but it did leave her with the flaky skin problem, so out came the Aloe Vera and it has worked wonder's...

Hope you baby get's well soon, an please give the Aloe Vera a try an a little time for it to work as you wont see improvement's over night but it shouldn't take long to kick in...

Good Luck...

Gaynor.
