Have any of you tried those Bull P*nis'? You can get them braided or just a straight stick, they are kinda a dark brown. Just wondering what your thoughts are on them or if you ever heard of them, they are hard kinda like rawhide but not a rawhide. I was told they were an actual bull penis. I bought a couple and gave them to my dogs, but only 2 of my dogs really chewed on them and liked them. The other 3 liked them but were taking so long to eat them (had them for over a week) so I just gave them to Junior and Taz who ate them right up. This was the first time I ever bought them, they are not cheap at all, I mostly feed crunchy treats - nutro treats.

Bulls willies are the only thing my dogs have choked on! I know others dislike rawhide, however I have found no problems with that. Don't you think they stink Dollface? Wouldn't of thought they are any more problematic than anything else.
Dawn.
Good grief I thought stuffed hooves and pigs noses were the giddy limit till I heard this one :D

you should have seen my mums face when i brought some home once! a picture when i told her what they were! kicked poor nellie off the sofa!-cant think why!LOL!

.....whatever next...I :-P hope the bull was not still attached

This was the first time I ever bought them, if I ever do again it will be a treat. Have never tried the pig nose or hoves. Are they safer?

Dollface,
Dogs can choke on anything. Pigs noses are not any safer than any other dried "offcuts" sold for dogs. Unless the food is mush, they can figure out a way to choke on it or block or pierce their intestines up with it -- and that includes raw bones.
My dog now is not a hard chewer, in fact, I can barely get her to gnaw on anything at all (unless it's a "street find" and then she'd happily crunch her way through a block of concrete). I give her rawhide with no problems, because she barely makes a dent in it. I give her some of the types of edible nylabones, which are expensive. I've had tough chewers in the past, and they were fine with compressed rawhide bones and cow hooves.
The only reason I give my dog something to gnaw on is to help remove tartar (I also use Logic), otherwise I don't think there is any need to feed these things as a treat. Regardless that the suppliers of chews and dried animal bits all say they are mostly protein and mostly digestible, my opinion is they are junk food.

Hi,
I have been feeding these to my dogs for more then 10 years and they love them!!
Never had any problems, wish I could say the same about the rawhide chews.

Stacey, I was just saying I had seen these offered for sale, not reccomending them as safe. You got it right when you said dogs can choke on anything so they need supervision when chewing/feeding.

Don't think I could stand to see one of these lying around the house, how horrible!!!
And the thought of one of my dogs chewing on one...yuck!

kittywitch..I think the men in the house would agree
Dollface.. I have not seen them here though everone else seems to have ..perhaps there are more bulls in canada so more of them :-D

lol :D
No I wouldn't leave them unattended :)
I just thought I would try them, I do buy those edible bones for them and mostly just have Kongs, nylon bones and big bones for them to help clean the teeth.
My hubby just thought they were gross when he knew what they were :D :D :D and told me not to call them that ouch :D :D

I think a whole carrot would serve just as well.. my dog loves to hold one in her paws and gnaw it ..without the yuk factor :-P
From personal experience I will not give my boys raw hide or anything like it. Almost lost one of them last year through choking and he was being supervised I just didnt get to him quick enough. Luckily he is still with us but it is scary stuff and dont want to be put through that again. Now it bones or nylabone bones which they seem to love. Both are great chewers though so the nylabones are great for them.
