when i put our pup to bed she cries and cries, i would leave her but we live in a terraced house so its not really fair on the neighbours, she sleeps soundly in our bedroom, ive read obout other people doing this on the forum and gradually movind the dogs crate further away as mine only sleeps in a basket this would be dangerouse as she could fall down the stairs, any other ideas for me (i dont really want to get a crate, i know you all use them and would suggest this )

Have you thought about about a stair gate.

when i decide its bed time, i put my pup where i know she will go to sleep and pretend to go 2 sleep myself then when she nearly asleep, i put her in her bed and she then sleeps in there. i did try just putting her in her bed but she cries and we live in a house split into two so i have the same problem with the neighbours.

Hi guest, have you tried putting something that smells of you in her bed (worn old tshirt?) and leaving a radio on very low in the room you want her to sleep in? You wouldn't need to leave the radio on for long, your pup would gradually get used to sleeping downstairs alone.  You don't say how big she is? You seem happy to have her in your room, if you don't want to get a crate a good strong box would do (ask in a supermarket) until she can safely go on the stairs  :-)
