Hi, i have been featuring trouble with my lab x collie and he is finding this dog that constantly stares at him agitating him , going to get him a headcoller tommorow but what else can i do, he is only like this to other dogs down agility, and particually the one who stares at him, and i have been told many things like distract him, (which i do try to do, but there isnt much room to distract him and to not distract other dogs) and to leave the class but that i dont want to do, and to have 1-1s but they are expensive!! i myself have 1 solution to go to a behaviour specialist, but i know that can cost money.. does any one firstly have any other suggestions or secondly know anyone who does do behaviour problems for fairly cheap!! Thank-you
Sophie

Sophie,  A behaviourist does not have a magic wand, however much they charge. You are the one who has to modify your dog's behaviour.  If he only does it at the agility class and to the one dog that he doesn't like then the more you let it happen the worse the problem will become.  If your dog cannot focus on you and his agility then you need to put enough space between you and the other dogs so that he can, with a view to gradually improving his concentration as you get closer again.  There is a very good video by Greg Derret called something like "Foundation Training for Agility". You could do a google search for it.

And I think you're supposed to register if you want to keep posting.

As my Nan used to say - buy cheap - buy twice!  This is true for most things, including behaviourists......
