Topic Dog Boards / Health / Lumps on face

Overnight, Emmy my lab, has come up with three lumps on her face. two under her eyes and one on her nose. They are only pea sized and she does not seem ill in any other way, she did rub her face on the grass when I let her out this morning, and now the lump on her nose is bleeding a little. My gut feeling is she could be stung? There is a lot of long grass and nettles etc where we walk that she loves to run through at top speed, but then again maybe it could be the heat? She's also been eating a lot of grass recently, could it be an allergy of some sort? Any advice appreciated, I feel so sorry for her!

If she has been stung then the homoepathic remedy Apis Mel 30c is useful; I assume they are not ticks?

Have you tried giving her piriton tablets?  Try Piriton tablets - one human 4mg tablet to a small dog, two to three to a Labrador-sized dog

Thanks for your replies.
Can't see any evidence of ticks. I gave her a piriton tablet yesterday morning and this morning the lumps under her eyes have gone just the one on her nose is left which is now more of a cut where she rubbed it and opened it up. I have been gently cleaning it and she does not seem bothered so I will see if it clears up on its own, if not I will take her to the vet. Looks like she has either been bitten or stung so I just hope she gets better soon. The worst thing is is I can't take her for a walk! This is going to sound so naff but I kind of rely on her halti when we go out... she isn't a puller but does lunge when she sees other dogs and wants to play and being such a large lab and me only a little wimp, I can't hang onto her with a normal collar, and there is no way I'm putting a halti back on her until her nose has healed incase it irritates it. So we have to wait til "Daddy!" comes home in the evening and we can walk her together. I have been playing with her lots in the garden though, so I hope she isn't too unhappy. She is nearly two and never once been with out a morning walk! you would not believe how guilty I feel but need to keep us both safe. Sorry, I've gone on a bit! Thanks for listening!
