i have a 18 month old rottie called sassy and 4 weeks ago purchesed another bitch rottie. The two dogs couldent get on better. Sassy is always playing and cleaning the pup and to anybody who dosent know the dogs they would think sassy is the mum.I was prepared to except all the puppy behaviour like chewing ect... but i have to say the puppy has been brillient its sassy who is the problem at the moment.I dread walking into the house when iv been out even if iv just nipped up stairs for a couple of minutes as i know she will have destroyed something. When i get up in the morning shes been going to the toilet on kitchen floor. Since getting the pup i have been really carefull as not to get her jealous. I understand that she would be as shes been the only dog. When people come to my house i make them fuss sassy first. The only time i fuss the pup is when sassys in the back garden so she cant see me doing it.Shes stoped listening to basic commands and if she does listen its on the 5-6th time telling her.Its as if she thinks "well if the pup can do these things so can i". so if anybody has got some usefull tips they would be more than appreciated.
HI there
Has Sassy been like this only since the pup arrived, in the last 4 weeks?
If so, she has been unsettled by the pup's arrival. If she destroys stuff when you have only been out/upstairs a short while, and hasn't before the pup's arrival, then she is showing signs of being stressed.....
Hopefully you may find it will all settle down of its own accord - if you are lucky!!! :)
Make sure Sassy gets lots of fuss and isn't told off when the pup is there for any misdemeanours, as she will associate this with the pup's arrival too. The pup won't miss fuss as he/she isn't used to it individuallyl anyway, whereas Sassy is.
Think too about whether, although Sassy does get on with the pup, she may feel a bit fed up if the pup is always trying to play when you are out/upstairs. It may be her way of saying "help" lemme outta here!!!"
Just a few ideas, anyway :)

Thanks for the reply. Sassy started doing this about 2 weeks ago and is fantastic with the pup, i think she enjoys the company, shes never snappy with it. I understand the reason shes doing it is because of the puppy but shes probably getting more fuss know then shes ever had. Hopefully give it a couple more weeks and she will settle down. (fingers crossed)
