I am sure I have read that companion show organisers have to take the address and details of all entrants, also all entrants have to sign a statement to say the dog has been healthy for at least 21 days prior to the show, on the paperwork. If this is the case, then why? Especially as the details sent to open and champshows exhibitors do not have to be published. As paper work at companion shows is less likely to guarded surely this leaves dogs and their owners vunerable to potential thieves?

All entery forms should only be kept by the show secretary, same as at an open/champ shows? How is the paper work less guarded?  I know all previous paperwork from our show is sitting somewhere in a box in your house...it don't let it out willy nilly and also a majority of the dogs at companion shows are only pet and not worth as much as the champ show qulity unless you looking for fighting.  If you really don't want to give your name and adress on the netry form then why don't you just don't do anything...and unlike open and champ shows I would say entrys are safer as they do not go into third hands or though the post where anyone could pck them up...kennel name of dog then and everything They have....And I have seen on a few occassions addresses at open shows have been printed in a catalouge when asked NOT to be printed.

Havent been to a companion show this year, but certainly the last time I entered one all that we needed was my name and the dogs pet name, and classes entered, no address, and no declaration of health, have the rules changed recently?

The KC have a companion dog club that you can enter, and when you go to a companion dog show they are holding special classes for dogs on the companion dog show register, for example we are going to a companion dog show which has the normal ped classes on and then the novelty classes and also a companion dog club class, and you must take with you proof of eligibility for this class, proof that your dog or dogs are registered with the companion dog club through the KC.

i was speaking hypothetically but having said that today I was at a companion show we were asked to give our addresses and through the afternoon I saw the entry tent with the forms on the table left unguarded. There were several people there who had dogs which are shown regularly, I see them quite often at open and champ shows when stewarding. We weren't asked about the 21 clear days of being healthy though.
I have found the thing I read and it is on page 15 of this months Kennel Gazette. It does say as part of the Health and Safety exhibitors should wear their numbers at all times and as well as giving their name and address, as the KC Gazette puts it "it would be advisable for them to confirm that their dog has not knowingly been in contact with any infectious or contageous disease within 21 days of the show.
