i wouldn`t buy the popular camcorder that uses 8mm video casettes as weve been hunting for ages for the right leads so we can put the footage onto the large vhs tape to play in our video player.in argos you can get a case(that looks just like a video and you slot the camcorder tape into it then into the video player and watch, fab, but it`s not suitable for 8mm casettes page 873 in the cat.) on the following page you can buy a comcorder vhs-c which is suitable for £199.99.also with the leads you still have to set up the leads to record onto the large tapes or wire up the comcorder to play through the tele.i find all this quite confussing hence we have`nt watched ours or we play them back and have to watch them through the concorders lcd screen.s baxter
I've got a Sony DCR-TRV60E Handycam, I don't bother putting all my footage onto vhs, I just download it all to my pc and burn it to dvd, it wasn't cheap cheap, around £600 but a lot of camera for the money, small, light, camcorder/digital camera all in one!
Just a word of warning before you go out and buy one with the hopes of downloading to the PC, make sure your computer has a firewire port and video capture card fitted, otherwise you will need to get one installed. Not that expensive you can buy the card for about £50, but so frustraing when you've got the camcorder and can't understand why it won't work with the PC.
