We went to look at some blue staffordshire bull terrier puppies yesterday, they were advertised as pure bred and mum could be seen. They were not kc registered and dad not there. How do we know they were pure bred, they did look spitting image of mum. Is it bad that they were not kc registered and why were'nt they ?

Any info on pure breds and kc registering would be a great help

my son went to look at some staffy pups the other week. they were nothing like the advert. my husband said the mother was definately not purebred. you have to be careful.

If the pups aren't Kennel Club registered you have to be very careful. KC registration isn't foolproof, but it's the closest to a guarantee you can get. There are many possible reasons why the pups aren't registered. Maybe the bitch is too old/young. Maybe either the sire or dam aren't registered. Maybe they have non-breeding endorsements on their registration ... the list is lengthy.

Unregistered pups are worth a lot less money, so I wouldn't expect to pay more than about £200 for an unregistered Staffy, whatever the colour.

there are lots and lots of registered pups out there-
did you ask the seller WHY pups werent registered at all? And was the mum or dad registered?

if you wantes to know about the father ask the breeder for some pic of him and if you can have there phone number so you can have a chat with them and if they live close by you could ask to see him.  and i would also ask if they were ISBT as they tend to have more blue in there lines and they are a little diffrent to SBT's

If you want to be sure you get a "normal" staffy go for one with kc papers I bought a staffy with non kc papers and she turned out to be isbt which has turned out to be fantastic as shes absolutley ace,but not what I thought I was buying. Pay the extra, for the peace of mind,whats an extra £50 or £100+ when buying a dog?
