As there are publicised road works at the entrance of the Newbury Showground - can anyone tell me if they have caused a problem on Friday/Saturday??
Need to put that information into the equation as well as Companion Dog Show parking to work out what time to leave!
Many thanks
Margot
Margot,
The roadworks are actually on the roundabout/junction as you come off the M4 or try and neogtiate round it
on the A34.
There are also roadworks that lead up to the junction on the A34 either side.
You will also have roadworks at Whitchurch on the A34 too, which you can get at least 1/2-1 hours delay in busy
traffic (this is what was coming over the radio).
The companion dog show parking is in the red car park.
There was an accident (M4) causing holdups for people leaving the show yesterday (Friday).
Hi Margot,
I was there yesterday and it added about 35-40 minutes onto the journey time. Don't know if the time of day would affect it, we actually arrived at 9.50. We were in Red car park and there were plenty of spaces in there at that time.
HTH,
Helen.

You can easily miss the entrance to the showground just because you are busy concentrating on the traffic, make sure you get in the nearside lane and the entrance is just after going under the bridge on the left before the exit on to the northbound A34.
I went Friday and traffic was awful coming up from the south on the A34. Worst jam coming to M4. Two lots of roadworks going north on A34. Four mile tailbacks on one and seven on other but that was Friday later in the day. But I had a four mile one coming home.
If you miss the entrance and realise you are on the A34 going north you have to drive 15 miles before the next exit but it is quite easy coming back. Come off and go under A34 follow signs thro village back to A34 then only go on the A34 for a little way - come off and follow signs to Chievely and Beedon and you seem to get back quicker and it brings you right to the entrance without having to run the gauntlet of the roundabout and traffic. I know I ended up on the northbound A34 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info - I just needed to know that!!
(if we do get in the wrong lane, I could just go on up & go & see my sister at Ashbury instead - trouble is I think she will be in Normandy this weekend with her OH who was a L/C in theh Paras!)
