Interviewed on 20th May for a Housing Officer with the Council Private Rented Sector Team, and to my utter astonishment GOT IT! I start on 28th June. Should be fun :D While I was waiting to hear from Human Resources, I kept applying for jobs, made a short list and confirmed Id attend for an interview on 17th June - should I now cancel, go to the interview anyway as jobs can be declined if by some miracle I succeeded? Id like to cancel to save wasting time, but how do I do it?

Whether you go or not depends I suppose on whether you would like the job more than the one you have got :D
If you do want to cancel, speaking as an interviewer, it is always appreciated when someone makes a courtesy call to inform the prospective employer that they have now found a position and thanks them for the opportunity for an interview.

Hi Lorelei
Congratulations and good luck when you start :D For the other interview, I would just call up the person who sent you the letter inviting you to interview and explain that you have secured another job :) That way, if they want, they can invite someone else if it was a close run thing deciding on the short list for interviews.

Thanks all. The Private Rented Team is the one Im most interested in. I applied for as many housing jobs as I could in a burst of motivation - just get a job tyoe thing. So I will gracefully decline the rest. :) Innit great to be in demand?
