Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Autarky Puppy Formula

Hi there,

I have been feeding my pup on the puppy version of Autarky and she has being doing brilliantly on it.  She is now ten months and has been on it since she was about four months.  Last week or so she has developed terrible wind and is shedding her coat badly after shedding only a couple of months ago.  She also had terrible diarrhoea last weekend which is not normal.

I have contacted Autarky direct and they confirm that they are aware of any problems with Autarky Puppy.  I have spoken with another woman who also feeds her puppy this food and she is having the same problem and yet there are herbs in this formula to tackle this specific problem.

We have not changed anything in anyway and wondered if maybe you could shed some light on this?

Many thanks

Sarah

If the food has not changed in its formula, have you considered that it may not be the food that is the problem?
My pup is on autarky puppy with no problems. There are many reasons for diarrhoea and wind, and even more for hair loss....I strongly suggest that you should get a vet assessment. It  COULD be the food.....or at least your dog may have developed an intolerance to it ....BUT it could be a manifestation of some other illness, and it is best to get it checked out.

Could alswo be that it is now tto much or too rich, and a change to the adulkt version might sort it.

I feed all of mine on Autarky and if anything their poops are realy hard, almost like they have eaten bones. I get mine for £3.30 for 10 kilos.
I would also suggest using adult now, my youngsters are 5months and on adult as I am very fearful of over doing protein.

tcarlaidh did you mean £13.30?  In my area it is much the same price as the 15kg adult bags.

Does anyone know anything about 'Gusto' and it's comparison to Autarky?  If we don't get an answer on here I'll give them a call on Monday to ask for the 'official' response.

I queried this with them at their tradestand @ RBW show last week & Gusto is much much cheaper. They were somewhat "cagey" about the difference but gave the impression that the ingredients contain more bulking and no 'erbs etc. :(

I have spoken to Autarky themselves on this topic, and yes there are more bulking agents, and whats more it contains Ethoxyquin as the preservative, which they do not use in the Autarky, which I use with my crew, and had super results, but wouldn't ever think of using the Gusto. but this is just my opinion
