Have tried to join forum but cant login in as something about my 'cookies' not enabled! Perhaps my son can sort it later as its his computer. Anyway thanks for all the advice. Yes nails are short. Tried separating mum from pups last night, they slept from 2am until just after 8am. big improvement but mum was yelping and scratching on and off all night so probably had even less sleep. At least I know it is mum thats disturbing them.  She enjoys cleaning up their waste and I think thats what she keeps returning for. She certainly doesnt want to feed them anymore. They are having cereal with lactol, puppy food, scrambled egg, have tried soaked complete but not keen to eat it at this stage. I am very worried to give them anything they may choke on and dont know how solid things can be at this age. They are five weeks today.  They have a water bottle and cuddly toys and when they settle they sleep well until mum disturbs them so I am going to limit her access to them so her milk has a chance to dry up. HI, what soaked complete have you tried? - some are much more palatable than others. Arden Grange is excellent and none of mine have ever refused it. None of mine would ever touch Beta puppy, for instance,they would rather go hungry!!

My puppies ate Beta puppy, but wouldn't eat it soaked! It had to be dry - yes, from weaning onwards. I think they liked to crunch their food. ;) I didn't wean them straight onto crunchy beta, but they definately preferred it dry.

hi was wondering how you got on..... once her milk is gone she will settle down and then i would put them in a pen or similar in the  same room so mum can see them thats prob what was wrong last night ...keep the weaning up use good meats and cereal and the milk meals ...i can understand how your feeling as i said I have had this happen to me ....another good tip i got from here was when the pups and mum are together during the day pop a baby grow on her to stop the pups from sucking ..hope you can get pc sorted and join us soon
