What is wrong with a Golden Retriever? That is why they are called that!! Sorry but when someone says white I want to say why :-)

i agree, reddoor.  if there is such a thing as a "white" golden retriever, then it must be albino, in which case it would have serious genetic faults.  i can't imagine a white golden retriever, or a blue one or an orange one for that matter!

White???? Golden Retrievers are GOLDEN. Samoyeds are white, Great Pyreneese are white, Poodles come in white, Westies and a number of other breeds.

Guest, you've made the mistake of putting your post on twice and are now getting savaged in two different places! ;-)

The very pale golden retrievers you are referring to are not strictly white, rather a very pale cream colour. The range of goldens bred goes from this very pale colour right through to a very dark (almost red) colouring. Many litters will have a range of different shades within the litter and it wont be difficult for you to get the kind of shade you are looking for.

Some advice. Dont ring the breeder up and ask for a white puppy - you may get the kind of response you got on here! Look for a breeder that is breeding from health tested stock and has a sound reputation for breeding quality pups. Do as much research as you can into the breed and the different breeders. If you really want a very pale puppy then fair enough, but my advice would be to look at the litter as a whole and pick the pup that really appeals to you and appears to have a temperament that will suit you. This could be a very pale pup but could equally be the darkest in the litter! By being too prescriptive about colour or markings you could be passing up the 'dog of a lifetime!'

Please bear in mind that when you talk to a GOOD breeder, they will be assessing you as much as you will be them. They want to place their pups to someone who has a good knowledge of the breed, has done some homework and is concerned with having a healthy, sound puppy with an excellent temperament.

Try and focus on finding a really good breeder, rather than one that just tries to produce a specific colour or shade. With a popular breed like goldens, then sooner or later you will find a good breeder who has or expects some pale pups.

Best of luck!

I agree havoc, think the guest may mean the paler golden colour. My husbands' aunt had three but I have never seen a pure white one.
