Any Champdoggers going to Glastonbury this year, or am I the only one?

My daughter is going.  She is working on security there.  Has been going for the last 3 years.  Says it is a must .  She phones me in the evening when the top performers are playing and I have my own private Glastonbury at home.  Must admit I wish I had the stamina to go.  Have a great time Jo.

Have a brililant time!! I went last year but couldn't get tickets this year - a few of my mates are going though.

I'm going to Global Gathering instead this year - can't wait!!  :-)

Thanks Charanda! Any tips for a Glastonbury newbie?

And ... I don't know if you can answer this burning issue for me ... is it possible to get a decent shower there? I've heard a rumour that there are some deluxe showers available, with electric points for hairdryers, at a charge, but this may just be an urban myth ...

Lucky you Jo :)
Nearest I got to anything like this was Creamfields in 2001 :)

Jo what kind of hippy are you...hairdryers at Glastonbury :)  It always rains and it's traditional to wallow in the mud, get realy stinky and look forward to a hot bath when you get home. Wear realy sensible clothes and most all comfy boots and don't worry about what you look like, take baby wipes for hippy washes and a toothbrush, all packed in a small rucksack.
I havn't been for about 20years, my daughters tried to buy a ticket but failed to get through, lucky you. Have a good time :)

I was going to say - just take enough clean knickers for a clean pair every day & a packet of babywipes :D !

Extra clean socks might be good too  - just take knicks & sock for every day, packed into little ziplock plastic bags then even if they fall into the mud, they'll be clean & dry!

Just enoy yourself - you have nice baths & hot showers at home - Glastonbury has ATMOSPHERE!!!

Jo - there are showers there I believe but only use them if your happy to queue up all day to use them!!

There were 6 of us there and with the help of the guys who had set up camp near us we actually erected our own sort of shower!!  Well I say that - we had enough water to have a bit of a body wash whilst a mate holds a towel up to hide you and then use the water to then wash your hair!!  Hairdryers aren't needed - let it dry naturally!!

As the others have said - wet wipes, toilet paper, toothbrush, hairbrush, clean underwear and deodorant and away you go!!!

Its a really cool atmosphere but my only tip would be to camp as far away from the main goings on as possible otherwise you find that you have about 100 p*ssed up lads falling on your tent and attempting to climb in it at 3 o'clock in the morning!!

I'm doing Global Gathering this year which means no camping - just lots and lots of dancing!!  :-)

Thanks for info everyone! I know it's not very hardcore to want a shower, and even less hardcore to enquire about hairdryers, but hey, I'm a wimp!

To be honest I really hate camping but the atmosphere seemed so electric last year (we usually watch the coverage on the telly) we just had to go. This is the first time that Cam's ever been booked into kennels, so it's a double whammy.

LOL, how things have changed............I used to go to the Isle of Wight Pop Festivals (Jimmy Hendrix and the like)...........ok, showing my age here, but when we went we took nothing other than what we were standing up in and maybe a sleeping bag<VBG>

Have a great time! forget about your hair and be prepared to stink. You'll be hard pushed to find showers that you would actually want to use, but hey it's only for a few days you can bathe and wash your hair as much as you like when you get home. The main thing is that you enjoy yourself. :D

I know you're giving me great advice ... it's just that my hair looks rubbish if I don't wash it. I know I'm married and no longer on the shelf but a girl has standards. :D

Hi Jo19

Ive been twice to Glastonbury and I LOVE IT!!

Be prepared tho!!  take loo roll and pegs to the loos (which are a big hole in the ground!!  LOL)

If the weather is ok look forward to the smelly loos. If its awful look forward to the mud bath and the loos over flowing!

But, best of all, enjoy the music, make sure you go to all the tents and see all the diferent types of music.

Dont queue too long to see your fave band...i did that and fainted just ebfore they got on stage!!  LOL

Just enjoy the experience and if you come across 'unusual smells' just put it down to the Glastonbury experience and if you are having a really good time, take the 'smell' in  LOL

Just enjoy it for what it is, and remember the fun you have!!

yes just enjoy it, couldn't you put your hair up or wear a hat? that's what I do. How about you take a watering can and a big container of water to wash your hair? as someone else said you can buy wipes for body freshness too. it will be great!  :-)

A watering can? Now that's a blimmin' good idea. :) Thanks!
