What about a good quality beanbag that the cover comes off for washing?

Hooch

I have recently trialled a canvas bed, its about 4ft long, x about 24inch wide, and can be folded away ( a bit like the folding green chairs you see at shows etc), being canvas they can be hosed down, I have a Sharpei with the same problems and he just loves this, when most other beds have caused him discomfort.  And being about 4 inch off the floor, there is no chance of your dog getting caught up in a draft.  They come with a canvas cover so can be placed in the garden in summer, and your dog(S) can be comfy and shaded all at the same time.  I personally do not use the canopy as Josh's bed in located in the bedroom so look pretty darn daft...LOL

You can see what they are like from this link, as he sells them on EBAY, I was the very first in the UK to trial these beds and I can honestly say ( and the company hasn't anything to do with me, so not advertsing)..Rotflmao. That they a superb, and again being easy to transport from A-B as it comes in a bag to. Here's the LINK SORRY CAN'T DO LINKS, just cut and paste it ...LOL http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1283&item=4305156772&rd=1

Hope this helps

I can take photo's if you like, just PM me and I will send you a couple.  The average price was about £29.99 I think, but as he has just started to sell these you may get a good deal at the moment, they come in three colours Green ( I bought this one ) Red and Blue.

Hope this helps

Waggers do an orthopaedic bed which is made from 6 inch deep orthopaedic mattress in order to reduce pressure points.  It has a removable washable cotton cover.  It is not cheap however!

Bronteglen have a sale on with their vetbed at the moment.  Buy 5 get one free!  I have kitted all the dogs in the whole road out with nice new vetbed for about £13 for a huge 40 x 60 piece on average!  We shared the postage between us - Brilliant!

I use plastic washable beds lined with vetbed.  Easily washable and wipeable.

I made a dog bed for the car by folding an old kingsize duvet into four sewing round the edges and completely enclosing this in a thick vinal letherette, I made it for the car as my dogs are always wet and sandy and it was waterproof and wipe clean, covered the whole of the boot of the car going up the sides so kept the sand out of the car carpet too, however my old arthritic dog liked it so much ended up making her one too lol.
