Just wondering if anyone here has ever bought a new car via an internet site ?

I've looked at a few and the prices are considerably less than main dealer prices.  I'm just a bit wary of buying something so expensive without dealing face to face with the seller.

Has anyone any good or bad experiences to share ?

Have you tried "negotiating" the price with the main dealer??  I did that last time (just over 2 years ago now, don't know if the situation has changed) and ended up paying the same price as the cheapest I found on the net!!

Yes, Val, I have tried negotiating but I've noticed a subtle change in the approach now used by salesmen - they seem to have adopted a take it or leave it kind of attitude.  It seems that they don't have to work so hard to get sales these days - must be a lot more people buying new cars than there used to be.

Oh dear Joyce.  I'll be doing the same later in the year!
My usual tack is to go to 3 main dealers around my area.  I tell them all exactly what I'm doing and ask for their best price!  I found £3,500 difference between the top and bottom price last time!!  That was for a Vauxhall Astra Estate.

I bought a new car off the net from drivethedeal.com.

Saved about £3k and very very highly recommended.

No problems at all and car was deliverd to home on a trailer on March 1st!

Not imported car just use their bulk buying power to negotiate deals i think.

Wow, Tim that's some saving !   Did you do a part exchange deal on your previous car ?  Or does this complicate the process ?

My previous car was leased so i didn't have part exchange.  Dont think they take part ex so that may be a problem.

When I bought you could enter details on web site and it gave you price straight away, so check it out.

Think they are about the cheapest around. You can buy brand new imported cars, for about £5000 off.

Ones that are UK origin 4-6 months old for £5000 less.

I bought a brand new 20 DTI Elangance Zafira from them a year ago, for £12,000 I had originally booked one through Vauxhall but they received the wrong colour in and I didn't want it.  Someone mentioned motorpoint to me as it was opening in Scotland that weekend and I saved just a fraction under £6000 on mine.    They have a couple down south also.

I bought mine from a car supermarket I found on the net.
A ford Focus Diesel Ghia Estate and saved £4,500.The only differance I was the second owner on log book.It had 4 miles on the clock.

I did go and look at it.
Its a fantastic car.Great for the dogs.
I would go back to them again back.
They do finance and also take part exchange.
