hi, can anybody recommend a good informative book about training labradors and labs in general?  We are due to get our pup very shortly and I would like to do as much reading up as I can before the time comes

It depends on what you are looking for. "The Ultimate Labrador Retriever" by Heather Fone is one of my favourites and for gundog training "Retriever Training" by the late Susan Scales would be my choice.
