We are located in NYC, USA and have had one adorable pug, who lved to be 16.  Her successor is just as sweet but is very large.  We now want to add a second pug to the family. Since we carry our pugs everywhere, including to our office in special SHERPA dog carriers, we are actually seeking a miniature or uniquely smal pug.  We need to do this or our backs will give out!!    We were told at a show that some breeders are now breeeding smaller pugs.  Does anyone hsve any information on this development? I can be reached at JGR@jurecare.com.  Many thanks.  Jennifer RĂ©

The trouble is you what you will gain for your own health you will sacrifice in your dogs!  These dogs bred to be smaller than the norm are often of very poor health, will cost you a fortune in vets bills and lead a pretty miserable life and buying one will of course encourage the breeding of more of the poor creatures.

Hi guest, I think you may find that some breeders are breeding smaller (rather the Mini) pugs to suit certain judges.  i havent, either in the UK or USA heard of anyone trying to do anything as silly as a teacup pug!  However, a lot of judges give preference to a distinctly smaller bitch.  On my USA put list there was a recent discussion that many winning males were well over 20lbs, and breeders think that the  time has come to say enough is enough, after all, they are a toy breed!  If you wouldlike to contact me privately on  gwen.oake@virgin.net, I would be happy to pass your details on to fellow breeder in the USA who will be able to point you in the right direction - this is a UK based list.
bye
Gwen
