       i took my dog to the vet in march she said he had mange and treated it with strong hold it all cleared up but now he is iching his neck and head the skin looks very dry an dandruffy most on top of his head i only put strong hold on about a week ago, looks like im back to the vets again he wont be pleased with me. 

Could he not just have an allergy to something? Your washing powder, for instance, or the pollen in the grass? I'm not saying it's not mange, I wouldn't know it if it jumped up and bit me :D but at this time of year it could be a contact, or even a food, allergy. See what the vet says, but keep allergies in mind. ;)

I have had the same thing and checked for fleas etc but nothing
turns out to be mosquitoes (sp),there are tons and tons of them
around at the moment.
Try giving a dose of piriton to relieve itching.

hi did your dog have very small spots almost like milk spots along the top of his muzzle?

i just clicked on your name carolyn and saw oakprides and i thought i know that name im always looking at your site you have lovely dogs i will have to send you a pic of my boy.
dont mean to sound think but what and where do i get piriton from?

I have bulldogs too so always keep some in case of bee stings.
My ones bulldog her dad died of a bee sting last year :-(
In fact last week I am glad I had it.
My 10 week old bulldog puppy (maggot) had an allergic reaction to something.
Her eyes swoll up,her nose roll even her pads so I gave her a good dose of piriton
and waited but to be honest I was so scared her airway would close I rushed her to the vet (Sunday night)
he gave her a jab of something.............then my bill came......61 pound
for that the injection was 1 pound and 60 for meeting him at the surgery,still it was worth it just to know she was ok.
Talking to someone a few days later it turns out that 2 other dogs had had exactly the same thing happen to them too.

I would get the piriton from a chemist its only about 3 poundish
its for children so tell the chemist its for your child as they cant sell it for dogs.

The same happened to my pup last month, the vet took a sample from the infected area, it seemed that the infection was caused by a weed killer solution, after further investigation in my area i was informed that the council had recently sprayed the footpaths with a solution of weedkiller.Is it possible your area has been sprayed? If so it would help your vet to diagnose the problem and administer the correct medication.

There is also the possibility that your dogs have been re-infected particularly if foxes visit your area.
