Trimacare 80mg twice daily: Has anyone else had a bad experience with this antibiotic?
My three yr old female lab is now half way through her third consecutive prescription and has developed bad weeping eye residue (I think could be dry eye?) but also she normally has a very distinct mischevious and boysterous personality and tail that wags so fast it's a blurr - now she is "clingy", her tail is between her legs and has bot wagged for a week and she just looks worried and depressed?
The only thing that we can think of is these drugs. I have now stopped them and am waiting to see if she returns to normal. After 4 days her eyes are better and she seems a bit more perky but still not herself. My other 6 year old male is fine and his usual self and getting no response from his partner in crime either?
Anyone any similar experience?
Oh I forgot to mention, she was on the antibiotics as part of an investigation into a very dry and "flakey"nose, extending up her snout under the hair. She has had this since 1 year old, we think after picking up a dead toad -yeuch!! The theory was to try an eliminate several possible causes of this by antibiotics. They have made no difference on this score.
Any info would be greatfully received.
Hi,
l had a yorky years ago that was given an antibiotic ( not sure which kind ) but the next day his eyes were completely dried out and he slowly began to go blind later. The vet said he had an allergic reaction to the AB. He was originally given them for colitis, the AB did nothing to help the colitis but ruined his eyesight.
l now use colloidal silver were ever possible instead of antibiotics.
