Hi Carol,

We're at Shugborough Hall on Saturday for an agility competition, at Newark for Edwinstowe open show on Sunday, and then a local companion show on Monday.   And guess what - the weather forecast is not too good at the moment - but then it is bank holiday!  Never mind, I'm sure we'll have fun.

the agricultural show the ones i normally go to there are stalls selling anything and everything, horse show gymkana and lead reign showing, and we are off to the  open dog show that is held with the agricultural show,  it is a 136 class open show, hope it is like the Durham, wolsingham, and stanhope shows as they are brilliant,
i also have to find the show as i have never been to corbridge.

Sarah  you are going to be busy over the weekend, we hardly get many companion shows in the north east,it is such a shame as i really enjoy them when we go,good luck for the agility, i should be entering a show this year with merlin if i can pluck up the courage .
We are going to our first obedience show in about 3 weeks   we are no where near ready, but thought give it a go.

Carol,

Good luck with your first obedience show.   Willow's not really good enough for agility competitions at the moment but we enter her into the fun and unaffiated events along with Bonnie - it gives her a bit of practcie and at least everyone (and us) can have a laugh if nothing else.

Where are you going Hippychick ?

Hi Carol, if you like Durham Show etc you will LOVE Northumberland!  It is much bigger than the others, and has loads of cattle/sheep /horse classes, as well as big ring dispalys, and tons of trade stands.  If you dont have a dog entered you will be parked in the general car park, and the dog show section can be a bit hard to find, as you come through the entrance into the main body of the show turn to you left, and head toward the Cricket pavilion, the dogs show is there.  They usually have a few fairground rides and burger/candy floss stands parked just beside the entrance to the dog show, which makes it easier to find.
I have Patsy Pug and Jerry (Am cocker) entered.  Advantage of Northumberland over Durham (unless they have changed the rules this year) is that Dogs are still allowed into all the marquees!  If you are not going first thing in the morning be prepared for long traffic jams getting into the show.  If you come through Corbirdge (as most visitor do) you tkae a left turn inot the show which crosses a single carriage bridge over the Tyne.  This leads to lots of hold ups, but the police deal with it all very efficiently.  However, in lovely weather the public turn out in droves and it can take a while to get in!

We will be at North Riding gundog on Sunday too, so busy weekend!
bye

We all have to start somewhere Make sure you tell the steward it's your first show & they should be extra careful with the information you get from them re tight leads etc If you are working two classes & don't get drawn work the higher one first & then if you need to train you can do it in that one, the second class is always easier to work as you won't be so nervous

It seems a lifetime ago since I first worked a dog in obedience & there was no pre beginners in those days

I'm just off to try to find a second B judge for our show as we have bigger than usual entries again(had extra classes last year too) Not my job really as I am chief steward rather than secretary but that's waht I'm here for LOL

If you are going for the start of the Dog Show you will be OK, the traffic doent really build up till later (used to be a nightmare getting the horsebox in at lunch time for afternoon Hunter classes!)  Make sure you spot the Dog Show car park signs, and display you car park pass on the window of the car, so you get directed in the right way.  You go down a muddly little lane, a nightmare if it has been raining!  You get to park on the cricket pitch, close to the rings.  have a good day, and good luck.

Also going to tynedale, was there last year and had a super day, the weather was brill so fingers crossed for Monday. Its also a nice venue.
Doing a open at Carlisle on the Sunday as well.  Gd Lk at tynedale.
She
PS  last year it was very easy to find, lots of signs and people near venue directing ( I'm assuming its a same place must check!) Only drawback was having to drive down a narrow rather muddy lane to gain access to field -vehicle will need a wash after)

Hi She, yest its at the same venue - the lane is a treat, isnt it?  Fingers crossed we have a dry weekend.

My most local show this Bank Holiday, Bath Championship show.  Have Jean Lanning judging, and have never shown under her at this level or in breed classes, so should be interesting.
