I'm glad that Wispa is okay, Terri - that's such a relief, isn't it?   What sex is your singleton?    I know in one way it's a disappointment - but at least Wispa is fine.

Regards

Margot

First, congratulations to Terri & Wispa.  I have had 2 or 3 singleton litters over the years, and they have been without problems apart from the Pug, and that was just a case of a Mum rejecting, not to do wiht single pup.  I think the most important thing to watch for is excessive milk production.  Both of my girls seemed to self regulate the milk supply after the first 24 hours so no problesm, but I do know several other bitchers who had to be watched very closely for masititis.  You dont need to worry about the pup getting too much, ther is a limit tohow much even a very  greedy pup can fill up with!  your hardest work will come when the pup strts taking notice of things, and has no companions, it is really important to get single pups handled, socialied etc. You have to try to provide the stimulii the litter mates would normally do!  But, this bit is fun, not hard work!

bye

the vet did say to go back to her mainmentce feed of 1 cup a day, wispa is on antbotic 1 250gm a day,
the puppy ok,just feel sorry wispa she a good mum,she licking and feed it all the time so i let it take it toll in life.
well i throught i was going to have 8 weeks off work with a big to sit in the garden for the summer,

who said breeding easy and make money last night scann cost arm and leg but it was worth it for wispa and the baby life.

I had a lab bitch with two pups that needed much more than maintainance feed to keep in condition. I'd be inclined to only reduce fairly gradually.

You will probably find that the pup will take longer than usual to get properly weaned. Not a problem though they are usually huge!

Hi Briedog,
I've sent you an e.mail, hope you got it. :)
I'll try to help as much as I can, but I'm also new to this.
Having ony one puppy gives you a good excuse to forget all that boring housework, and spend all your time with pup.
Solo is 3 weeks now, So thats my excuse :D she needs me cos she's got no little brothers and sisters to play with.

Michelle.
